"Every line on a face tells a story; a century of living writes an entire library."

In a fast-paced world focused on the immediate, we often lose sight of the deep roots that anchor us. The 100 Project is a visual exploration dedicated to honoring longevity, memory, and lived experience.

Conceived and photographed by fine-art photographer Hendre Louw, whose creative journey began in 1993, this landmark project sets out to capture the portraits of 100 individuals who have reached or surpassed the age of 100. Over more than three decades behind the lens, Louw’s craft has evolved into a practice focussed on authenticity, depth, and the quiet dignity of human connection.

A Century in Focus

Reaching the milestone of a century is more than a personal victory… it is a living bridge across history. The men and women featured in this collection have witnessed world-shifting events, cultural evolutions, and the quiet rhythm of everyday moments that define human existence.

Through nuanced studio light and intimate composition, The 100 Project seeks to look beyond the surface. Each portrait is an invitation to pause, look closely, and contemplate the resilience of the human spirit. The resulting fine-art photo publication will stand as a celebration of life, serving as an enduring reminder of the wisdom, warmth, and contribution of our most venerated generation.

Call for Submissions: Honouring a Century of Living

Do You Know Someone Who Has Lived 100 Years or More?

The 100 Project is a legacy fine-art portrait initiative led by photographer Hendre Louw. Launching in 2026, the project will honor 100 centenarians by documenting their portraits and reflections in a landmark commemorative hardcover photo book.

We are inviting families, care facilities, and loved ones to nominate centenarians to be featured in this historic collection.

Why Participate?

  • A Forever Legacy: Each participant receives a high-resolution print and a complimentary digital copy of the finished publication as a gift to their family, when completed.

  • Preserving History: Share their life lessons, favorite memories, and personal wisdom with future generations.

  • Respectful & Comfortable Experience: Sessions are tailored entirely to the participant’s comfort, whether in-studio or in the familiar surroundings of their own home or care facility.
